Maria is a Vice President in Segal’s New York office. She has more than 20 years of experience in employee benefit plans, with a primary focus on post-retirement health and welfare valuations. Ms. Rutkowski has worked on FASB ASC 715-60 (formerly FAS 106), FASB ASC 712 (formerly FAS 112), GASB 43/45, SOP 92-6, SSAP 92 (formerly SSAP 14) and IAS 19 actuarial valuations, competitive bidding, renewal negotiations, reserve calculations and valuations, budget projections and claims analysis and underwriting.
Maria works with multiemployer, public sector and corporate clients in various industries, including the University of Missouri, the Bakery and Confectionery Union and Industry International Health Benefits Fund and the Heavy and General Laborers’ Local Union 472 and Local Union 172 of New Jersey Welfare Fund. She is the signing actuary for nearly 40 post-retirement health and welfare valuations.
Prior to joining Segal, Maria was a Senior Manager in Ernst & Young LLP’s Human Capital practice.
Maria graduated from the City University of New York, Baruch College, with a Bachelors degree in Mathematics. She is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. She holds a Life, Accident, and Health Insurance Agent’s license in the states of New York, Connecticut, Illinois, Vermont and Massachusetts.
