Reporting and Disclosure Guide for Benefit Plans 2021

It’s not easy to make sure your health, welfare and retirement benefit plans meet all of their compliance deadlines and other requirements. Our guide, which is for plans subject to ERISA, will help you keep on top of your plan’s paperwork and avoid a painful government audit.

What’s new in this year’s guide and how it helps you

In previous years, we organized our guide by federal agency so you could see what each agency requires from plan sponsors. However, this meant a plan sponsor for a DB retirement plan (for example) would have to look at each agency's list of requirements to compile a list that applied to their specific plan.

This year, we've made the guide more friendly to the end user by organizing the requirements and deadlines by the plan type to which they apply, regardless of agency. We've broken it down to the following sections:

  • All plans
  • Health and welfare plans
  • All retirement plans
  • DB retirement plans
  • DC retirement plans

Additionally, some of these sections contain smaller subsections that help the sponsor further refine what requirements apply to their plan.
