Bob is a consultant to the Company and Chair Emeritus of the Board of Directors.
Bob first joined The Segal Company’s New York office in 1954 as an Actuarial Clerk during college work-study sessions and summer vacations. He became a full-time Member of the Actuarial Department in 1956 and served in every actuarial capacity thereafter.
Bob became a Vice President in 1966, a Senior Vice President in 1971, Executive Vice President in 1978, President in 1982, and Chair in 1994. He retired as an employee of Segal in 2002 but remained a Consultant and Chair of the Board. On September 10, 2005, Bob was elected Chair Emeritus effective January 1, 2006.
From 1959 until 1961, Bob served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Public Health Service’s National Office of Vital Statistics.
Bob is a graduate of Antioch College (Yellow Springs, OH), where he received a BA in Mathematics. He has also done graduate work in Mathematics at New York University.
Bob is a member of the executive committee (and past Chair) of the Board of Directors of the American Benefits Council.
Bob is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries, a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries and an Enrolled Actuary. He is past Chair of the Board of Trustees of Antioch University and past Chair of the Campaign for Antioch College. He is a member of the Board of Directors and Treasurer of the National Dance Institute and a member of the Board of Directors and past Chair of Elderhostel, now called Road Scholar. He is a member of the Board of Musica Sacra, a professional chorus. Bob is also a Director of Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc., a global firm of engineers, architects and materials scientists.
